Miss Annie 2010 Summer Recap and 2011 Winter Outlook

Hot on the heals of an exceptional summer season which saw record numbers of white marlin caught in the mid-Atlantic region, Captain Matt Rabenstine and the crew of the Miss Annie have returned to their winter home at Sailfish Marina on Singer Island in Palm Beach Shores, Florida and are looking forward to another banner year with south Florida sailfish. Last year saw some of the best sailfish action in many years and double-digit release days were common. Could this season be a repeat? Time will tell but rest assured the crew of the Miss Annie is well prepared and will do their best to provide you with an enjoyable and productive day on the water.

Though the crew is already focused on the upcoming winter season, it's hard not to reflect on what was one of the best white marlin bites in decades during the summer of 2010. Those who were fortunate to get in on the action we treated to world-class billfishing and memories that will last a lifetime. "We had an awesome season of white marlin fishing this past summer during our stay at Sunset Marina in Ocean City, Maryland," notes Captain Matt adding the Miss Annie tallied an impressive 109 white marlin and one blue marlin during 19 trips in August and September. "Though our best day was 18 white marlin, the fishing was very consistent throughout the summer," added Captain Matt. Tournament season found the Miss Annie right in the thick of the action and although they fell short of the leaderboard, the crew once again made an impressive showing in two of the region's most prestigious events. During the first week of August, the Miss Annie participated in the White Marlin Open in Ocean City, Maryland and released 12 white marlin during the tournament. Two weeks later at the Mid-Atlantic $500,000, fishing out of the tournament's satellite port in Ocean City, the Miss Annie weighed three white marlin of 65, 66 and 67 pounds and released 10 additional white marlin!

Late September found the Miss Annie headed back to Florida where routine maintenance, fresh bottom paint and several coats of wax and polish have her in Palm Beach condition for the busy winter season ahead. The winter season is already off to a fast start and Captain Matt reports early November has seen impressive numbers of sailfish released. In fact, by mid-month, the crew had already released their 50th sailfish of the season and had scored no less than 33 sailfish releases during three half-day trips! Numerous large gaffer dolphin up to 15 pounds have also been caught.

The winter schedule will once again include full or half-day trips for high flying sailfish, acrobatic dolphin, speedy kingfish and wahoo, hard fighting sharks and tasty cobia. We'll also be offering daytime and nighttime trips for the elusive swordfish. Miss Annie's winter home at Sailfish Marina lies just a few hundred yards from Lake Worth Inlet and from there it's a short ride to the fertile Gulf Stream which brushes along the south Florida coastline. This unique location makes half-day trips popular with vacationers looking to sample the region's exceptional fishing while full-day trips offer guests an extended opportunity to score the catch of their dreams. Florida's winter season also offers a full tournament schedule and Miss Annie is available for charter in several of the popular sailfish tournaments in Palm Beach, Fort Pierce, Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Her record as a proven tournament winner has Miss Annie in demand during the tournament season so contact Captain Matt early for availability and rates and perhaps we can put you on the winner's podium at one of south Florida's world-class events.
